Webcast

The Internet is experiencing an explosion of information broadcasting including: special events, internet radio shows, seminars, training sessions and news. Caption First is once again listening to our clients and we have produced a full-service solution to your webcast and accessibility needs. NetCAPTION will make your webcasts accessible and provide transcripts on demand after the webcast has concluded.

Web Page Plug-In
Caption First utilizes a plug-in that can be placed into your webpage. This plug-in is based on the Flash protocol.

Flash Player
The end user is required to have installed on their PC the Macromedia Flash player. This player is already found on over 98% of the PCs that regularly access the Internet. The player is easily downloaded, without cost, from the Macromedia website for those end users who do not already have it installed.

Integrity
The integrity of your website is never compromised because you do the plug-in insertion with some technical direction from our expert staff. This insertion will take approximately 30 minutes. For limited use webcasts and last minute requests, Caption First can supply the required server.

Captioned Video/DVD
Caption First technology allows you to simultaneously feed into a caption encoder if a closed-captioned videotape or DVD is also required.

Non-Proprietary
You are not limited to Caption First captioners. We believe that our solution, coupled with our captioning staff, is superior. However, if you have a "favorite" captioner, this platform is not proprietary and may be economically accessed by other captioners.

The Webcast Process
The process is as simple as 1 - 2 - 3.

  1. Pre-Webcast
When you chose Caption First, you get the resources and experiences of our entire team. For new clients, the Technical staff will answer all your questions regarding the plug-in insertion and the receiving of text as well as assistance in running a test. For returning clients, the Operations staff will schedule your webcast when you desire. For all clients, the Operations staff will assist in gathering prep material for use by the captioner. This prep material helps to ensure the highest quality of captions possible. Call-in and trouble numbers will be discussed and distributed to those involved.
  2. Webcast
The Caption First captioner will call in a standard 15 minutes before the event goes live unless you have established another connection time. Captioners can write for up to 3 hours without a break, if necessary, and coverage is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Caption First staff will also periodically monitor the webcast for quality.
  3. Post-Webcast
SAMI/Real Text or SMIL files can be created and will be sent to you within 24 hours (or sooner if desired) of the event finish time. Other formats may be accommodated if your needs require. You have the option of posting these files for on-demand replay. If you are not interested in a SAMI or SMIL file, electronic (.txt/.doc) formats are also available.
